Sep 1, 2017SEARCH FOR A SUPERINTENDENT – Paradise School Board voted Monday to pay the Texas Association of School Boards’ (TASB) Executive Search Services to compile the results of a community survey concerning the qualifications and characteristics desired in the district’s future superintendent. The survey is for stakeholders in Paradise ISD – parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, board members, students and community members. TASB will also host the district’s job posting. School board president Homer Mundy said the trustees will narrow down the applicants and conduct interviews after the November election. Four seats on the board are up for election. Former superintendent Mac Edwards resigned in June. Robert Criswell is currently interim superintendent.VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP – Paschal’s Riley Parker buried 16 kills and Katie Tafte 12 to lead the Panthers to a sweep of the Northwest Lady Texans Tuesday. Paschal won 25-20, 25-20, 25-16. Northwest (17-7) hit just .065 against Paschal. Kori James finished with eight kills. Bailey Tompkins added six. Analise Lucio had 17 assists. The Decatur Lady Eagles took down Henrietta in four games Tuesday (25-19, 11-25, 25-21, 25-18). Freshmen Makenna Gantt and Trinity Vinzant turned in solid matches. Vinzant put down 13 kills with an ace. Gantt served three aces with seven kills. Junior middle blocker Satasha Kostelecky had nine kills. The Boyd Lady Yellowjackets swept Azle (25-19, 28-26, 25-12) Tuesday. Jordyn Todd tallied 10 kills and Macee Valtr nine. Macey McCune handed out 14 assists and Torie Pellegrini 10. Larrin Maxwell made 18 digs. The Chico Lady Dragons handled Vernon Northside in three games Tuesday. Chico won 25-17, 25-20, 27-25. Kinly Walker put down 11 kills with 23 digs to lead the Alvord Lady Bulldogs to a victory over Prairie Valley in three games Tuesday (25-21, 25-13, 25-20). Christina Thomas buried five kills.
